Online fundraising platform waives fees

Online fundraising platform Collection Pot has waived Gift Aid processing and listing fees for charities.

The platform says the move has been taken to support charities tackle financial challenges to emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The decision sees the scrapping of fees for processing Gift Aid on donations. Instead donors are given the opportunity to cover processing fees if they wish.

There will also be no fees for charities to be listed on the Collection Pot website.

“We are expanding and want to become a global platform for good and one of the ways we can really help charitable causes is by waiving Gift Aid fees,” said Collection Pot founder Wendy Carter.

Many charities are finding life very difficult, especially during this pandemic and they need donations more than ever.

“We can disburse collections, enabling funds raised to reach charities quickly, securely and at no additional cost via our Visa Direct partnership.

“However, having the technology is only part of the solution, we want to make a real difference and hopefully by waiving these fees we can be a part of a brighter future for charities.”

Collection Pot commercial director Adam Stevens added: “This is about choice and transparency. Everyone who donates wants the charity to get as much benefit as possible. So when you collect using Collection Pot there are no charges to process

Gift Aid donations and we have also added a way for donations to be topped up to cover our necessary processing fee.”

Gift Aid campaign

Last week it emerged that more than 200 charities have joined a coalition calling for a temporary increase in the level of Gift Aid to help the sector meet Covid-19 challenges.

The proposed Gift Aid Emergency Relief package would be in place for two years and would increase the current rate of one-quarter to a third.
