Charity Commission appoints P3 CEO as interim chair

The Charity Commission has appointed P3 CEO Mark Simms as its interim chair following the departure of Orlando Fraser.

Simms has been appointed for a six-month term from 25 April 2025 or until a new chair is appointed, whichever is sooner.

The CEO has more than 25 years’ experience in the voluntary and public sectors, and has contributed to several national advisory boards focused on systems change, public service reform, and tackling inequality.

He joined the Charity Commission as a board member in March 2023 and was awarded an OBE in 2024 for services to social enterprise.

The regulator's current chair, Orlando Fraser, is set to step down in April when his term ends.

Fraser has been the chair for only one term, whilst two previous chairs, William Shawcross and Suzi Leather, served two three-year terms. His predecessor Baroness Stowell also only served one.
