Mayday, which supports the care of vulnerable people, including those experiencing emotional distress or facing homelessness, has named its next chief executive.
Alex Fox will lead the charity from early 2022, replacing Pat McArdle, who stepped down in August after 11 years in the role.
He is currently CEO for Shared Lives Plus, a membership charity for carers. He joined Shared Lives Plus in 2010 and was awarded an OBE for services to social care in 2016.
“Over the years, I’ve admired Mayday’s work and heard my inspirational predecessor Pat McArdle speak about the radical path that Mayday has taken,” said Fox.
“Mayday has developed an approach to supporting people going through tough times which works, and which has the potential to reach thousands and transform a system which is broken for too many people. I’m excited to be joining such a unique a creative team of activists.”
The charity’s chair Julie McEver added: “The Board is thrilled to have been able to appoint Alex as CEO. We look forward to welcoming Alex and supporting him to evolve the work of Mayday and drive the mission forward.”
