A survey has revealed that residents of Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol are the most generous in the UK.
The survey by humanitarian aid charity Muntada Aid found that UK wide the average donation per person is £148.
But “certain cities stand out for their exceptional generosity”.
Birmingham residents donate £245 annually, in Bristol the average annual donation is £229, while in Leeds is £226, “each significantly surpassing the national average”, said Muntada Aid.
This is the latest set of findings to be published from the charity’s Charity Giving Index, which surveyed more than 1,000 people.
The survey has previously revealed that Generation Z adults give on average twice as much to charity each year as other age groups.

“We commissioned this national survey to understand how individuals donate to charities and what motivates them to fundraise,” said Muntada Aid chief executive Nayaf Sheikh.
“The findings underscore the significant variations both regionally and different age groups and highlight the remarkable engagement and generosity of younger generations towards charities, which is incredibly encouraging.
“These detailed insights allow the Muntada Aid team to maximise our fundraising efforts across all our humanitarian missions and ensure we can support even more communities who rely on our vital projects and aid.”
