London Marathon raises record £67m

London Marathon fundraising via the JustGiving and Enthuse platforms has reached a record £67m a day after the event.

This tops the event's previous record for a one-day annual fundraiser, when £66.4m was raised in 2019.

“That is a wonderful achievement and huge thanks to every single person involved. The total will continue to grow as many donations come in after the event weekend so we will announce the final total in the coming months," said event director Hugh Brasher.

More than £40m was raised via JustGiving via 18,000 fundraisers for more than 1,700 charities.

This is a 14% increase on the amount donated to fundraisers on the platform last year.

According to JustGiving, people have donated to London Marathon fundraising pages on the platform 900,000 times. It expects this to increase by 20% in the coming days “which will make this the most ever raised on JustGiving for the event”.

Cancer, heart disease, mental health, Alzheimer’s and dementia were among the most common causes fundraisers ran for.

“We are blown away by the remarkable efforts from everyone that took part in the London Marathon this weekend,” said Pascale Harvie, President and General Manager of JustGiving, said:

“Both mentally and physically this is one of the hardest challenges a person can take on and it is heartwarming to know that so many did it for a good cause.

“It is difficult to put into words just how much good will come from the impressive £40million raised by more than 18,000 fundraisers on JustGiving. It will have a significant impact on more than 1700 charities and will undoubtedly change so many lives for the better.”

Meanwhile, £27m was raised via the Enthuse platform.

“What an incredible event and a brilliant day with such a huge amount raised for good causes,” said Enthuse founder and chief executive Chester Mojay-Sinclare.

This is the third year we have been the official partner for the TCS London Marathon and it’s incredible to see the growth over that time – our fundraising total of £27 million for the event, so far, is more than 200% higher than in our first year,”

“It’s such a special day for the sector and we’re delighted for all the charities that will benefit from the public’s generosity. We’re already looking forward to the 2025 event.”

Fundraising around the London Marathon via the JustGiving and Enthuse platforms reached £52.54m a day after last year's event.

In total the 2023 London Marathon last raised £63m, which was the highest fundraising total since 2019, the last time event was staged before the Covid pandemic.
