Special Olympics GB boss to lead cancer charity

The chief executive of Special Olympics Great Britain is to take the same role at the charity Leukaemia Care.

Colin Dyer, who has also previously spent 12 years as CEO of the charity WellChild, will join Leukaemia Care in April after two years leading the sporting body.

“The board is delighted to appoint a person of Colin’s extensive and varied experience, who will be joining the Charity at an interesting time of its growth and development,” said the charity’s chair Chris Matthews-Maxwell.

Dyer replaces Zack Pemberton-Whiteley, who left at the end of last year after nine years leading the charity to join Novartis in a senior patient engagement role in Switzerland.

“I am really looking forward to getting started and working with the team at the Charity to continue the outstanding work already taking place to support those affected by Leukaemia,” said Dyer, who has also spent more than four years as director of the Steve Redgrave Trust.

“It is clear that there is the potential for Leukaemia Care to continue to develop its reach, and that everyone connected with the Charity is determined to build on the positive impact we are having for so many people across the country.”
