NAVCA starts search for new CEO amid first surplus for seven years

Charity Infrastructure body NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action) has launched its search for a new chief executive, following the departure of Jane Ide.

The organisation is looking for a candidate with senior level voluntary sector experience in “leading and managing change, an understand of, and experience of working with infrastructure organisations, with the ability to turn ideas into delivery and actions and the communications skills to share positive outcomes with our members”.

The closing date for applications in 12 November.



Ide announced her departure in September, to take up the same role at education and employment sector body Creative and Cultural Skills.

She had been with NAVCA for three years, including a stint as the organisation’s head of membership engagement before become CEO.

The search comes as NAVCA publishes its annual report for 2019/20, showing a small surplus for the first time since 2013.

This shows total income from charitable activities was £397,8778, compared to a total expenditure of £377,431. This compares to an income of £287,281 and spending of £349,622 the previous year.

“Improving NAVCA’s financial stability has been one of the Board’s aims,” said Navca chair Judy Robinson.

"Towards the end of the year, the picture improved considerably and we will want to build on this for future sustainability.”
