Brevio, the online platform that matches charities with available funding they are eligible for, has announced it is to cease trading from the end of the month.
The decision has been made after charities swerved the platform after it introduced a subscription fee following three years of offering its service for free.
The subscription fee had been introduced after “very few grant makers were open to supporting the platform, preferring to focus on their individual administration process”, says the platform in a statement.
“In August 2023, after over 3 years of offering the service free of charge, Brevio introduced a nominal subscription fee to charities to sustain the development of the platform,” the statement adds.
“Unfortunately, engagement by charities was insufficient to support the financial sustainability of the project, and the difficult decision to cease trading was taken.”
Brevio Ltd has announced that it will cease trading from 31st March 2024. We see this not as an ending, but as a transition from start-up to scale-up.

Brevio says that it is looking at ways its service can continue adding that “the engagement from thousands of charities with the platform over the years is evidence of the need for the model, which has reduced the wasted time and cost traditionally spent searching for grants”.
The platform's founder Marcelle Speller said: “The journey with Brevio has been a testament to our commitment to innovation and efficiency within the charitable sector.
“Whilst we prepare for Brevio’s next chapter, despite our closure, the mission to optimise the grant-making process through digital means remains crucial.”
