Former Kidney Cancer UK volunteer Malcolm Packer has been named as the charity’s next chief executive.
Packer joined the charity in 2007 as a freelance volunteer and was appointed its head of charity affairs and communications six years later.
He takes the top role at both Kidney Cancer UK and its sister charity Kidney Cancer Scotland next week.
The last permanent CEO at the charities was Nick Turkintine who retired in February after 16 years running the charity.
The post has been covered on an interim basis by Andrew Greaves, the charity’s head of public affairs.
“I am extremely proud to have been selected to move this charity forward, said Packer.
“There will be challenges to overcome, but I am confident that with the help of the team at Kidney Cancer UK, we can make our support for patients, families and carers better and better.”
Chair of the charity’s board Berkeley Greenwood added: “We are delighted that Malcolm will lead the Charity through what is an exciting time, as kidney cancer gains greater prominence, and we work with various partners to improve its diagnosis and treatment.”
