Fair trade charity announces name change

Traidcraft Exchange has changed its name to Transform Trade to make it easier for the charity to communicate its key messages around fair trade.

The charity hopes “that a simpler, more direct name will make it easier for people – both new and familiar – to join the movement to transform trade”.

It is also hoped the name change will make it “easier to explain” its mission.

IT adds that the name change was suggested by one of its supporters.

Despite the change of name it will continue to be the international development partner of fair trade company Traidcraft, which is a co-founder of the Fairtrade Foundation.

“It’s been a long journey to get here since our early days, and we are so grateful that you’ve supported us every step of the way,” said Transform Trade.

“While our name has changed, we remain incredibly proud of our heritage, and are still proudly partnered with Traidcraft Plc.”
