Pancreatic Cancer Action appoints new CEO

Pancreatic Cancer Action has appointed Anthony Cummings as its new CEO.

Cummings' experience spans over 25 years in the charitable sector, across a range of organisations.

He previously worked as executive director of St Mark’s Hospital Foundation, before which he was also the director of income and communications at the Honeypot Children’s Charity, where he led a strategic overhaul that significantly increased income and awareness levels.

Giulio Codacci-Pisanelli, chair of the Board of Trustees at Pancreatic Cancer Action, said: “I am delighted Anthony Cummings is joining us as chief executive officer at Pancreatic Cancer Action. Anthony has an impressive background in transforming charities and significantly increasing income and impact. We are very much looking forward to working with him and seeing the charity continue to grow and flourish under his leadership.”

Cummings added: “It is with immense honour that I step into the role of chief executive officer at Pancreatic Cancer Action. I have already had the privilege of meeting with many of the charity’s key stakeholders, including Trustees and members of the Senior Leadership Team. The passion, commitment, and clarity of purpose across the organisation is extraordinary, and reflects a shared determination to achieve PCA’s mission: a world where pancreatic cancer is diagnosed early and patients receive the treatment and support they need to live long, healthy lives.

“I approach this role with both excitement and a sense of urgency. Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most underfunded and under-researched cancers, with no widespread screening or early detection programme in place. Yet every day, 26 people in the UK lose their lives to this devastating disease. Action is not only necessary, it is urgent. It is needed now.”
