The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has launched a match funding initiative involving grant givers, aimed at boosting the number of “high quality” volunteering opportunities available.
The Volunteering Futures Fund is looking for grant makers to fund projects to boost opportunities to volunteer in community and youth initiatives.
The DCMS is making grants of between £300,000 and £1.7m in match funding available, according to guidance documents for applicants published by the government.
Applicants must be able to contribute a minimum of £300,000 in matched funding.
“The fund encourages organisations to bring new match funding as a way of encouraging collaboration and leveraging additional beneficial outcomes,” says the DCMS guidance.
“If we receive multiple high-quality applications, we will prioritise organisations that bring new match funding.”
This first strand of the funding is aimed at support young people and those who experience barriers to volunteering to be able to take up voluntary roles.
This includes targeting people affected by loneliness as well as those in areas of disadvantage.
The Fund will also have a focus on training and creating social networks.
The second strand will involve volunteering opportunities in the arts, culture heritage and sport.
