Charities are being offered £100,000 in matched funding through an online fundraising platform and charitable trust initiative.
The Double Matched Day initiative is taking place on 11 December through online fundraising platform the Good Exchange. This will see the Greenham Trust match donations made during the day to ten charitable projects.
For every £1 donated up to £5,000 the Greenham Trust will offer £2. A total of £100,000 has been made available by the trust for the initiative.
To apply for the match funding offer, applicants must have a live project on The Good Exchange by 9 November.
The trust’s previous 24-hour double match funding push took place in July, when 1,359 donations were made. With match funding and Gift Aid the total raised was £181,926. This saw three projects receive full funding and eight projects using their full match funding allocation.
“Double Matched Day was a first for us and we all hoped it would be a success but not in our wildest dreams did we expect it would prove to be so successful in engaging our community in giving to local charities, many of reaching their fundraising targets,” said Greenham Trust chief executive Chris Boulton.
In August, Charity Times detailed a raft of fundraising platforms the charity sector is using as it looks to pivot its fundraising online amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
