British Heart Foundation ‘incredibly sorry’ after London to Brighton cyclist dies

The British Heart Foundation has said it is “incredibly sorry” after one of the riders in last weekend’s London to Brighton Bike Ride died.

It said that an investigation is being carried out along with the police and local authorities into the rider’s death.

“We are incredible sorry that one of our riders tragically died while taking part in today’s London to Brighton Bike Ride, and our deepest sympathies are with the rider’s loved ones,” said the charity.

It added that “our team do not have any more information right now but please do keep their family and friends in your thoughts,” it added.

Meanwhile, BHF has announced that it is to work with Brighton based sports event agency Threshold Sports to work on strategy and delivery of the event.

“We’re thrilled to be working with one of the UK’s most respected charities. We know just how important the BHF’s London to Brighton Bike Ride is in raising funds, and for the tens of thousands of participants who take part every year,” said Threshold Sports chief executive Nick Tuppen.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to support this famous event and input our expertise. Together, we hope to deliver an outstanding event that will support the millions of people in the UK living with heart or circulatory diseases and create an unforgettable experience for the riders.”
