Institute of Fundraising becomes chartered body; re-brand due in 'coming months'

The Institute of Fundraising has officially become a chartered body after its royal chartered states was officially approved.

As of 1 April the membership body will officially start operating as a chartered body, and said it will change its name, identity and website in coming months.

IoF chief executive, Peter Lewis, said to members the chartered status represents 'formal recognition' of fundraising as a profession and the 'huge contribution' charities are making to society.

"And perhaps never in a generation has this country needed your professional skills more," he said.

"As fundraising activity around the UK is severely curtailed by coronavirus, it is only with your professional skills and experience that charities will be able to raise the funds they need to meet increases in demand, or simply maintain their efforts for the causes or communities they serve."
