The Coram group of charities has appointed Lydia Hodges to be the next head of its family research organisation Coram Family and Childcare.
She joins from the Actors’ Children’s Trust, which supports children of actors, where she was head of family support.
Hodges also worked at the National Autistic Society for 12 years until 2014, including a six-year stint as a regional officer.
Coram is the oldest children’s charity in the UK, set up almost 300 years ago originally as the Foundling Hospital.
Its Coram Family and Childcare charity focuses on carrying out research into childcare and family issues. Prior to 2018 it was known as the Family and Childcare Trust.
"I am delighted to be joining Coram Family and Childcare, particularly at such a pivotal time for childcare and early years,” said Hodges.
“The spotlight is now on childcare like never before, with a unique opportunity for change. I look forward to leading the charity's important work and making sure that opportunity translates into equal access to high quality childcare for all children and families."
Coram chief executive Carol Homden added: “Lydia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, building on the outstanding work of the team, to lead the charity through this next chapter and effect positive change for children and families.”
