British actor and media personality, Russell Brand, has closed his charity aimed at providing addition and mental health support.
The Charity Commission said Brand's charity, Stay Free Foundation, was officially removed from the register in January.
The closure follows a string of sexual assault allegations against Brand.
In 2023, four women reported Brand for sexual assault between 2006 and 2013, at which time he was at the peak of his acting career, working on Hollywood films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek.
Brand denied all allegations and alleged the relationships with the women were all ‘consensual’.
The Charity Commission opened a regulatory compliance case into the charity in 2023 following the allegations.
At the time, a spokesperson for the regulator said: “Serious concerns have been raised in the media regarding the chair of trustees of the Stay Free Foundation and as a result, we have opened a regulatory compliance case.
“We are engaging with the charity to seek assurances that it is effectively managing risks to its reputation and is able to fulfil its purposes in line with our guidance.”
Prior to its closure, the charity last reported an income of £126,130 and a total expenditure of £52,353.
