SolarAid, which aims to increase African communities' access to solar power, has appointed former Coca-Cola executive Lionel Marumahoko to lead its board.
He has spent more than 25 years with the drinks firm in senior roles across Africa and has lived and worked in eight countries in the continent.
Marumahoko is currently a managing partner at business advice firm BPLAfrica Connect.
“Lionel's expertise will be crucial as SolarAid expands its reach, ensuring affordable solar power is accessible to all,” said the charity.
He replaces Mirjana Skrba, who has been in the role for the last four years and remains with the charity as its treasurer.
Also joining the charity’s board is former civil servant Chris Austin, who worked at the Department for International Development.
“I’m thrilled to welcome our two new board members, who bring a tremendous wealth of experience,” said Skrba.
“Their fresh perspectives come at a pivotal moment for the charity as we continue to amplify our core message and strengthen partnerships across the continent, accelerating the adoption of projects to achieve SDG7 (the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of affordable and clean energy for all) and ensuring no one is left behind.”
