Regulator launches probe into education think tank

The Charity Commission has opened a statutory inquiry into the governance and financial management at a London based education think tank.

The investigation into the running of the Centre for Global Studies includes the appointment of interim managers to over see its management.

The inquiry will look at potential conflicts of interest, governance arrangements as well as its financial controls and processes.

This is specifically look at any unauthorised benefits trustees and connected parties may have received, including trustee expenses.

The charity’s activities overseas as well as in the UK are being looked at as well as how best to safeguard its assets.



Sarah Tomlinson and Edwina Turner of Anthony Collins Solicitors have been appointed by the regulator to run the charity during the investigation.

According to the charity register the Centre for Global Studies total income for the year ending March 2022 was £100,000, while its spending was £84,983.
