News agency offering 10 charities pro bono help to get coverage

The UK’s largest independent news agency SWNS is offering free support to 10 charities to help them get coverage of their work.

The agency says it will work with charities with a view to gaining coverage for human interest stories through national and international media outlets.

Media its stories regularly get coverage in include the Mirror, Mail Online, The Guardian, the New York Post and TV show Good Morning Britain.

Successful charities will also get regular feedback on stories media are interested in and how they can ensure they get further coverage.

Eligible charities need a press officer the agency can work directly with and have human interest stories that are likely to attract national and international media attention.

Interested charities can apply by December 20 to SWNS head of news Laura Elvin at laura.elvin@swns.com, using the subject line Charity Appeal and including a short description of the charity.

Charities should include examples of stories that have already been covered, or could receive coverage, and how the agency can help, in their application.

Good causes the agency has already worked with include Blue Cross, The Brain Tumour Charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and Christians Against Poverty.

A spokesperson from The Brain Tumour Charity said: “Our collaboration has led to countless national and regional mentions in the media, which is not only beneficial to the charity, but also really rewarding for everyone who bravely shares their story”.
