NHS Charities Together has announced a £65m package of grants for charities from September to help them recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The charities group that supports 230 voluntary sector organisations supporting the NHS is inviting its members to apply from 1 September.
The money includes £30m in Community Partnership Grants to support charities to work with partners including community health organisations and social care bodies.
The package also includes £35m in Recovery Grants to tackle the long-term effects of Covid-19 and help hospitals prepare for any second wave of the outbreak.
“We are in uncharted territory with this crisis and we don’t know how long it will go on for or what direction it will take,” said NHS Charities Together chief executive Ellie Orton.
“We know we need to focus on the on-going and long-term impact of Covid-19. We may be easing out of lockdown but the devastating effects on our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing are still very much with us.”
NHS Charities Together has emerged as one of the key charity fundraising success stories amid the Covid-19 pandemic. It has raised more than £130m and has already handed out £23m to NHS charities in its first round of Emergency Response Grants.
Captain Tom Moore
Among the most high profile fundraising campaigns was that of record breaking fundraiser Captain Tom Moore.
The war veteran raised £32m for NHS Charities Together through a sponsored walk around his garden. This month he was honoured with a knighthood from the Queen in recognition of his fundraising endeavours.
