King Charles’ charities being renamed

Charities set up by King Charles when he was the Prince of Wales are to be renamed.

The move has been announced ahead of the monarch’s birthday this week and a year after he ascended to the crown.

Youth opportunities charity The Prince’s Trust has announced that it will become known as The King’s Trust to “reflect the dedication of our founder” and his “continued passion for our work”.

The change is to take place over the “coming months”, said the charity in a statement, which added “we will continue to support young people across the UK to gain the confidence and skills to move into work, education and training”.

Community charity Prince’s Foundation is to also change its name and will become known as The King’s Foundation. It will continue its aims “to educate, inspire and demonstrate how practical knowledge from the past can create sustainable community prosperity in the present”, according to the organisation.

The foundation's rebrand also comes three months after the Metropolitan Police announced they had closed its investigation into cash for honours allegations surrounding the charity. Two years ago an independent investigation found evidence that the charity’s former chief executive Michael Fawcett had coordinated with “fixers regarding honorary nominations for a donor”.

Meanwhile, The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund has already rebranded and changed its name to King Charles III Charitable Fund.

Its rebrand, which has been carried out by Ford Creative, PixelFridge and Good Relations, has included a relaunch of its website. This features an interactive map showing its current projects in the UK and globally.

The charity also has a new logo, showing a crown based around the monarch’ favourite delphinium flower and “love of nature”, it says.
