The Charity Commission has appointed interim managers to run a Liverpool community support charity whose governance the regulator is investigating.
A statutory inquiry into the running of Eldonian Community Trust Limited was launched in August this year.
This is focused on whether the charity has enough trustees, whether trustees are complying with their legal duties and around submitting of financial information.
It had previous been the subject of a regulatory compliance case, that launched two years ago.
But this week the regulator has announced that Sarah Tomlinson and Phil Watts of Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP have been called in to “undertake certain duties to the exclusion of individuals who have been acting as trustees”.
They have been asked by the regulator to appoint new members to the charity, identify skills required among trustees and call an annual general meeting within three months.

The charity is part of a wider network of organisations linked to the Eldonian Community village in Liverpool but is the only one to fall within the remit of the Charity Commission.
It was set up in 1987 to advance education and set up and secure a community centre in the area.
The Eldonian community village in the Vauxhall area of the city was founded in 1978 as an inner-city redevelopment.
