Humanitarian charity appoints former Macmillan fundraising chief to senior role

International humanitarian charity Concern Worldwide has appointed Macmillan Cancer Support’s director Kirsty Hobbs to lead its fundraising.

She had been at Macmillan for 13 years leading on its giving and mass participation event fundraising and most recently served as its interim director of public fundraising.
Hobbs has previously worked at Scope, UNICEF and Shelter.

She joins Concern Worldwide as its director of fundraising.

“I am thrilled to join the team at Concern Worldwide, an organisation I have long admired for its commitment to reaching the most vulnerable communities in the most challenging and hard to reach places,” said Hobbs.

“I’m ready to learn and understand about their incredible work and to use my skills and experience to lead their fundraising team to achieve great things.”

The charity’s executive director Sayyeda Salam added: “I am delighted to welcome Kirsty Hobbs to Concern.

“She demonstrates a strong commitment to our values and to Concern’s work, including an inclusive leadership style and deep technical experience.

“The number of people in need of humanitarian support has hit a record high. I look forward to working with Kirsty to drive an ambitious fundraising strategy, so that we can continue to provide vital emergency response and long-term support to people living in communities impacted by conflict, climate change, and poverty.”
