Hub launches to explore ‘potential of funding collaborations in response to Covid-19’

An online hub has launched to support partnerships between charity funders.

The Funders’ Collaborative Hub offers digital resources to funders to encourage them to work together, in particular in response to Covid-19 programmes.

The hub “aims to enhance the effectiveness of individual and join responses by funders and philanthropists to maximise the impact of their resources to benefit civil society and communities”.

The hub has been created by funders, charity sector bodies and philanthropists and launches this week with an online platform and events.

It includes news on funder collaborations, networking opportunities, funding data and resources as well as webinar and forums.

The Association of Charitable Foundations is managing the hub, which is also supported by among others Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales, the National Lottery Community Fund and the Dulverton Trust.

A strategy group has been appointed to oversee the hub, which aims to explore the potential of funding collaborations in response to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as highlight emerging needs and gaps in support.

Hub interim project lead Rob Abercrombie said: “Collaboration seems to bring out some strong reactions.

“For the enthusiasts (I am one), it is essential if you want to get good work done, and there isn’t enough of it.”

He added: “The platform is a place for you to talk about your own collaborations, share what you’ve learnt and set out your stall if you want to encourage others to participate.”
