Guide Dogs launches gaming fundraiser this month

Guide Dogs is launching a gaming and streaming fundraiser later this month to highlight the number of people losing their sight each day in the UK.

The 250 Challenge takes place on International Guide Dog Day on April 24 until 16 May.

The gaming for good event sees the charity invite fundraisers to carry out a gaming challenge around the number 250, which is how many people each day in the UK who are told they are losing their sight.

Online gaming and board gaming are among ways fundraisers are being urged to take part.

Options include playing a game for 250 minutes, completing 250 levels in games or activities such as blowing up 250 balloons.

They are also being encouraged to promote their event via their social media communities including on game streaming platform Twitch.

Streamers, gamers and creators are being urged to use fundraising platform Tiltify as part of the campaign.

The charity has also set up a community on Discord for fundraisers to chat and ask questions.

In addition, incentives are being offered for reaching fundraising milestones during the event. This includes a Ubisoft game code and credit pack bundle for the first 16 people to raise £138 or more.

The first three fundraisers to reach £865 and above can earn a Guide Dogs hoodie or a £40 games voucher.

There are also trophies awarded for the fundraiser who raises the most, has the most creative campaign and also for supporting other fundraisers.
