Free communications toolkit for small charities launches

People’s Postcode Lottery has launched a free communications toolkit for small charities to help them share stories of their work and “maximise their impact”.

The toolkit has been created with Media Trust and offers advice on issues such as how to generate eye-catching publicity with limited time and resources.

Creating communications plans, storytelling, creating visual content and brand consistency are among other issues covered.

Also included are press release templates and advice on social media engagement.

Measuring the success of campaigns is another area in the toolkit for small charities.

“This toolkit was developed to help organisations share the incredible work they’re doing within their communities and beyond,” said People’s Postcode Lottery head of charities Laura Chow.

“It’s filled with advice to boost visibility, increase media coverage, and engage diverse audiences.

“Whilst this document was initially created to help support the good causes we work with we also want charities, who aren’t directly receiving funding, to make use of the guidance we are sharing.

“We know that not every organisation will have the luxury of having their own dedicated communications team so we hope that some of the hints and tips we’ve shared in this toolkit will be useful for charities of all shapes and sizes.”
