Finance sector stalwart to lead Children’s Society’s board

The Children’s Society has appointed financial expert Diana Noble as its next chair.

She joins next month and replaces Janet Legrand, who is retiring.

Noble currently sits on the Court of the Bank of England and advises private equity and venture capital firms.

She is a previous chief executive of the government’s finance organisation CDC Group, which is now British International Investment.

Noble, who was awarded a CBE five years ago, has also worked for the Clinton Foundation on issues around children gaining access to HIV/AIDS care and treatment globally.

“It is an honour to take over the chair role of this extraordinarily important and effective organisation,” said Noble.

“The stark and consistent decline of wellbeing of children and young people in our country over many years should be a concern to everyone.”

She added: “There is much to be done and, alongside the whole team and all our partners, I am determined that our work should achieve long lasting change for this generation and those to come.”

Children’s Society chief executive Mark Russell said: “I’m delighted to welcome Diana who will be joining us at a particularly challenging juncture in our mission as the impact of the pandemic, cost of living crisis and economic instability are felt across the country.

“Her vast experience will be of real benefit as we redouble our efforts to ensure the well-being of children, young people and families is prioritised at this difficult time and that they can emerge from it with real hope for the future.”
