The Childhood Trust, which supports children impacted by poverty in London, has named former Royal National Institute for Blind People (RNIB) major donor fundraising chief Josephine McCartney as its next chief executive.
She joins this month from Kent Community Foundation where she held the same role.
She spent 12 years at the Royal National Institute for Blind People until 2013 in fundraising roles, latterly as its national head of corporate and major donor fundraising.
She is also a former director of fundraising and communications at Imperial College Healthcare Charity.
“I am thrilled to be joining this wonderful charity who are doing so much good work, addressing unimaginable levels of poverty that children and families are facing in London today,” said McCartney.
“I am excited to work with our charity partners to see how much more we can achieve together. Children living in poverty across the capital is increasing, and I believe there is much more we can do in collaboration with other funders in London to address this.”
The charity’s chair and founder Grant Gordon added: “Josephine’s passion for helping children and young people aligns with our mission to ensure that every child in London has a happy, healthy, and safe future that prepares them for life.
“Her leadership will be invaluable as we tackle the challenges facing disadvantaged children to break the cycle of poverty”.
