Charities Aid Foundation appoints new chair

Professional and financial services expert Edward Braham has been named as the next chair of the Charities Aid Foundation.

He replaces James Leigh-Pemberton, who has been in the role since January 2019.

Braham is currently chair of M&G plc and is a non-executive member of the board of HM Treasury. He is also chair of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal board.

“I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Chair of CAF,” said Braham, who is a former mergers and acquisitions lawyer.

“It plays a truly unique role bringing together donors and charities, which has never been more needed to respond to challenges in the UK and globally.

“I look forward to working with my fellow trustees and the wider organisation to support the amazing work that CAF does.”

CAF chief executive Neil Heslop added: “I am delighted to welcome Edward as the new Chair of CAF - he will bring an enormous amount to the work of leading our organisation in the years to come.

“Edward brings extensive experience in the US and UK and has real enthusiasm for and insightful commitment to several philanthropy roles.

“We are extremely grateful to Sir James for his seven years of distinguished service on our board and as chair. He has skilfully overseen such a significant period for CAF, including helping us navigate challenges such as the pandemic and mark our centenary.”
