Carers UK named as charity of the year in £10,000 advertising award scheme

Carers UK has been named as charity of the year for 2024’s Creative Shootout competition, which sees creative agencies compete to work with a good cause.

At a live final in January 2024 eight agencies will be asked to respond to a brief set only four hours earlier by the charity. They then each have eight minutes to pitch their idea.

The winning agency will then work with Carers UK on their winning campaign. The awards scheme will hand the campaign £10,000 “to help them on their way”.

“We are hugely excited to be The Creative Shootout’s Charity of the Year,” said Carers UK chief executive Helen Walker.

“This is a transformative opportunity for the best creative talent in the industry to share their visions of ways we can reach more unpaid carers and support them to identify their caring role and better look after their health.

“It’s sure to throw up some fantastic ideas and initiatives that will help carers across the country get the support they need.”

Carers UK was selected as part of this year’s competition theme around health. The charity’s work includes supporting carers’ mental health and combatting loneliness.

“When we think about ‘the nation’s health’, the millions of people who quietly get on with the selfless act of love and service, with conditions made even more difficult in a cost-of-living crisis, have never needed more recognition,” said Creative Shootout founder Johnny Pitt.

Previous charities to benefit from the awards include UNICEF, Time to Change, FareShare, A Plastic Planet, Crisis and, most recently, FoodCycle.
