Breast cancer charity names next CEO

Breast cancer charity Make 2nds Count has appointed Samantha Dixon as its next chief executive.

She joins after around a decade’s experience of leading cancer charities and had spent more than two years until 2023 as CEO of Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

Across her career she also spent seven years as CEO at West Park Cancer Charity until 2021.

Her previous senior charity roles include six years at The Prince’s Trust, involving stints as director of fundraising for regions and counties and head of commercial development.

She has also held management roles at Age UK and Barnardo’s across her 26-year charity sector career.

Make 2nds Count supports those impacted by secondary (metastatic) breast cancer.

"I'm keen to ensure that the secondary breast cancer community continues to have a voice, research into trials and treatment lines that are prioritised,” said Dixon.

“It’s so important to me that high-quality support and information for everyone who is affected by this disease is readily available.

"I look forward to hearing first-hand from those within and beyond our community to help shape the direction our charity takes in the future, giving real hope to those affected by secondary breast cancer."

The charity’s chair Professor David Cameron added: “Her extensive experience, dedication to women's health, and innovative leadership will be invaluable as we continue to support those affected by secondary breast cancer and advocate for essential research and treatment advancements.”
