Arts match funding campaign raises £2.7m for almost 300 charities

Big Give’s second annual Arts for Impact match funding campaign has raised £2.7m to support 286 arts charities taking part.

This has been raised through 13,500 public donations that have been matched with £1.2m by match funding platform Big Give’s fundraising partners, including foundations and philanthropists.

This year’s event is marginally down on last year’s inaugural campaign, which raised £2.85m for 238 charities. This is despite attracting more public donations, with last year’s event garnering 12,386.

“We’re delighted to have helped the 286 really worthwhile charities raise such well-needed funds thanks to the generosity of the public and our champion donors,” said Big Give chair James Reed.

“As always, it is so pleasing to see the power of our platform, which doubles the difference of every donation.”

Among charities taking part is creative careers programme The Music Works, which raised £43,950.

“The Music Works really builds your confidence... it challenges you in a safe environment and facilitates growth,” said Jordan, one of the programme’s young participants.

Another taking part is Chichester Festival Youth Theatre, which raised £30,045.

“The sessions have been absolutely brilliant for my home-schooled and very shy daughter,” said the parent of one attendee.

“They have literally transformed her week. She thoroughly enjoys them, has learned a lot, has made new friends and feels safe and happy to come along each week.”
