Bank launches £2.5m charitable foundation

Vanquis Banking Group has launched a £2.5m charitable foundation with a focus on backing initiatives that support social mobility, financial inclusion and children.

This includes increasing the size of its support for giving pupils across the North of England access to affordable school uniforms. The Bank has already backed this work for pupils in Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester, and Blackpool alongside its partners the charity School-Home Support and the Dixons Academies Trust.

Its commitment to this project will increase from £100,000 to £125,000 in 2023/24 and expanded into London, further areas of Liverpool and Leeds.

“Vanquis’s backing has allowed us to provide school uniforms to hundreds of children and make certain they’re in education,” said School-Home Support chief executive Jaine Stannard.

“This new commitment means we can step in to help many more households in more communities.”

The Foundation will also bring together the bank’s other charitable work, including partnerships with National Numeracy Trust and Outward-Bound Trust to support disadvantaged families through education programmes.

Malcolm Le May, Chief Executive Officer of Vanquis Banking Group, added: “Making sure children can get to school and have the skills they need to succeed demands a long-term commitment.

“I’ve seen the difference we can make for individual families with our partners’ help, and I’m determined to do more. As families deal with the challenges of rising prices month after month, financial inclusion is more important than ever.”
