Air ambulance charity receives record £4m Omaze donation

London’s Air Ambulance Charity has received £4m from the Omaze million-pound house draw, the largest donation made through the fundraiser, where people look to win a luxury home.

The money raised through Omaze’s recent London house draw, is enough to ensure the charity can replace their two helicopters.

“Two years ago, the charity launched its most ambitious ever fundraising effort, looking to raise an additional £15 million to replace its two current helicopters,” said London’s Air Ambulance Charity chief executive Jonathan Jenkins.

“It was a huge challenge, but we have been blown away by how people have shared our belief in our life-saving cause.

“Thanks to the record-breaking amount raised by the Omaze community, the appeal has now passed its £15 million target ahead of its September deadline, meaning the charity can continue to save lives across the city and be there whenever and wherever we are most needed.”

The charity’s director of fundraising Jayne Clarke added: “It’s a real testament that the Omaze community has backed us to such a huge extent. It’s phenomenal. It’s a massive, transformational change for us as a charity.”

The payout to the charity follows an overhauled funding model brought in by Omaze last year for its luxury property prize draws.

This guaranteed £1m is donated and charities that it partners with receive 17% of total sales.
