Aberdeen Arts Centre
Laura Main has been announced as the new patron of Aberdeen Arts Centre.
The Call the Midwife actor, who hails from Aberdeen, landed her first starring role at the age of 13 at the Arts Centre. She is now coming full circle to support the grassroots arts venue during the ongoing Save Aberdeen Arts Centre fundraising campaign.
Fat Macy's
Homelessness charity and social enterprise Fat Macy's Foundation has appointed Ryan McKiernan as its permanent Managing Director after he served as interim MD for a year.
McKiernan brings over a decade of experience in the charity sector across Ireland and the UK, including previous roles at CCS Fundraising, St. Paul's Cathedral, SCI and The House of St. Barnabas.
Chris Attoe, Fat Macy's chair, said: "Ryan has already achieved a high level of impact since joining the charity and the trustees look forward to this next chapter."
Howard League for Penal Reform
The Howard League for Penal Reform has announced the appointment of Dame Anne Owers as its new chair.
Dame Anne has worked in senior roles in the fields of human rights and justice for many years, including nine years as HM Chief Inspector of Prisons and six years as Chair of the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
She was also the National Chair of the Independent Monitoring Boards (IMBs) for England and Wales, supporting the 1,300 unpaid public appointees who regularly monitor prisons. She is currently Chair of the Independent Custody Visiting Association, a board member of Prisoners Abroad, and a member of the Howard League Council.
Maggie's
National cancer support charity Maggie’s has announced that broadcaster and author Dr Sian Williams has become an ambassador.
The BBC presenter, who hosts the Radio 4 programme Life Changing and is also a counselling psychologist, has been involved with the cancer care charity for 10 years.
She joins the likes of broadcaster Mark Chapman, Emmerdale star Lisa Riley and recording artist AJ Tracey as Maggie’s marks its 30th year of supporting people with cancer.

International disaster relief charity ShelterBox has welcomed Richard Nightingale as its new Director of People & Culture. He will support teams delivering the charity’s mission and lead work that ensures ShelterBox’s culture continues to grow in step with the organisation and its ambitions.
With more than 20 years’ experience leading HR teams in the corporate world, Richard has held senior roles on executive and leadership teams. Having relocated to Cornwall with his family, Richard is excited to transition into the charity sector and apply his skills within a purpose-led, values-driven organisation.
