Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is the charity that looks after six very important heritage sites: the Tower of London; Hampton Court Palace, Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland.
With about five million visitors to our palaces a year along with success in fundraising, income from retail, functions and events, catering and sponsorship, our annual income which is in excess of 100 million pounds, means that HRP can designate increasing funds towards the running and project costs of the organisation.
This technically challenging role which reports to the Head of Financial Accounting, Payroll & Pensions plays an important part in ensuring that our income is used efficiently to support our Cause and enables the Executive Board to make the correct decisions in managing the charity. Responsibilities entail significant weekly, monthly and yearly reporting duties, the monitoring of cash balances and the proposal and placing of suitable cash investments. The production of statutory financial information, including involvement with our external auditors, will be a key task. In addition, there is a strong focus upon compliance with legislative and taxation requirements and the provision of pro-active tax advice to staff.
You must be a qualified accountant or working towards your qualification with a working knowledge of the main aspects of the corporation tax and VAT regimes and in a position to commence employment quickly.
You will be a proactive and enthusiastic individual, used to managing a variety of tasks accurately and to deadlines. You must be confident with financial systems and dealing with non-financial staff on financial matters.
