Regulator pauses registration amid online systems upgrade

The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland is to pause its registration process for organisations to apply for charity status as it carries out an upgrade of its online systems during August.

It said that it anticipates restarting its registration process again in early September.

Those already working on their registration application are being told to ensure they submit it by 5pm on Friday 31 July “but only if it is complete”.

The systems upgrade will also impact the regulator’s My charity login, where charities file their annual returns and update their details.

But it stresses that “charities can still submit annual reports and accounts during the upgrade, although there may be a short outage of 24-to-48-hours in August. Charities due to file around that time are encouraged to submit before the start of August where possible”.

The regulator said the update will “feature a more modern design and clearer guidance to help charities meet their legal requirements”.
