Paul Hamlyn Foundation has appointed Halima Khan as its next chief executive.
She joins in November and replaces Moira Sinclair who announced her departure earlier this year after a decade leading the funder.
A priority for Khan will be overseeing a new strategy for the grant maker, as its current one comes to an end next year.
According to the Foundation's latest financial records submitted to the Charity Commission, it spent £39.6m on grants in 2022/23.
Khan spent nine years until 2020 as executive director of innovation foundation Nesta and has also spent two years as executive director of communities and skills at the Greater London Authority.
Since last year she has been a member of the National Lotty Community Fund’s England committee.
We’re delighted to announce Halima Khan will be joining us as our new Chief Executive, starting November 2024. Halima brings a wealth of experience in grant-making, government and the social sector and we look forward to having her join the team. https://t.co/rXSv84h2nc pic.twitter.com/Y7YBpspnP9

“Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s mission for a just and equitable society is as vital as ever,” said Khan.
“The Foundation plays an important role enabling people to come together with creativity and determination to improve one another’s lives. I feel honoured to be joining such an exceptional organisation and look forward to building on its work to further social justice.”
The funder’s chair Jane Hamlyn added: “On behalf of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s team and trustees, I am delighted to welcome Halima Khan as our new chief executive.
“She brings great expertise and experience across so many areas of our work and shares the same conviction and passion for the ambitions of the Foundation as we do.”
