The 2026 TCS London Marathon has raised £87.5m for charities so far, surpassing its own record set last year as the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event.
Money raised is already £200,000 more than last year’s record of £87.3m with event organisers estimating this year’s event will bring in more than £90m when the final total is announced in September.
Of this year’s total so far, £42.2m has been raised through Enthuse, the event’s official fundraising partner, and £43.7m was donated via JustGiving.
“A record-breaking amount raised for charities yet again – an incredible achievement,” said Enthuse general manager Eddie Allenby.
“At a time where finances are tight for many, the TCS London Marathon continues to bring out the best in humanity and inspire charitable giving like no other event.”
At this year’s event men’s winner Sabastian Sawe completed the course in under two hours, breaking the previous record set by Kelvin Kiptum of 2:00:35. In the women’s race, Tigst Assefa defended her title and beat her own world record in 2:15:41.
This year’s event also broke the world record for the most finishers, with 59,830 completing the course.
Hugh Brasher, chief executive of event organiser London Marathon Events added: “The 2026 TCS London Marathon was an extraordinary day of world records, from the elite men and women running such extraordinary times, to the participation numbers, and now in fundraising.
“It is fantastic to know we have already surpassed our £87.3 million world record from 2025. Huge thanks to everyone who fundraised, and to everyone who donated to such a wide range of charities.”
The official charity partner for this year’s event was Marie Curie.
The National Autistic Society has been named as the official charity partner of 2027’s London Marathon.
London Marathon organisers say the charity has been chosen as it looks to make next year’s marathon “the world’s most inclusive mass participation event”.
