Hospice chief takes charge of air ambulance charity

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHATT) has appointed Mark Jarman-Howe as its next chief executive.

He joins this month from Colchester based St Helena Hospice, where he has held the same role for the last 12 years.

“Having spent much of his recent career in end-of-life care, Mark is now making the move from supporting patients in the final stages of life to saving lives in the critical first moments – bringing his deep understanding of patient needs, compassion, and strategic leadership to a new environment where rapid intervention can change outcomes in an instant,” said the air ambulance charity.

The charity was recently featured on the Netflix documentary series Critical: Between Life and Death and operates two helicopters, as well as rapid response vehicles, treating 1,900 patients a year in the East of England.

EHAAT chair Jonathan Trower said: “We are all delighted to have Mark as our new Chief Executive and are confident that under his leadership, EHAAT will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Jarman-Howe added: “EHAAT has a strong reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and patient care, and I am energised by the opportunity to lead it into its next chapter.

“My focus will be on turning our ambitious vision into reality – building on our strengths, driving new developments, and ensuring we reach and help even more people when they need us most.”
