Grants and loans fund worth £4m launches for global majority led charities

A £4m fund has launched to offer a blend of loans and grants to global majority led charities and social enterprises in England.

It aims to help “organisations access the finance they need to strengthen their resilience and grow their services in the communities they serve”.

It is being launched by Social Investment Business (SiB), The Ubele Initiative and Create Equity, with grant funding being provided by Access – The Foundation for Social Investment.

Through their Flexible Finance Fund, loans of between £50,000 and £1.5m are available alongside grants worth between 50% and 100% of the loan value, capped at £200,000.

“Flexible Finance is designed to address some of the barriers that have historically made investment harder to access, combining grant and loan funding in a way that better meets organisations’ needs,” said SiB director of investments Rob Benfield.

Foundation for Social Investment interim chief executive Neil Berry added: “By combining flexible investment with tailored support, the fund will help more Black and racially minoritised-led organisations access appropriate finance, strengthen their resilience and continue delivering vital impact in their communities.”
