Children with Cancer UK chief executive Jo Elvin is to step down at the end of this month after almost two years in the role.
She joined after a 20-year career running magazines, including stints editing Glamour and The Mail on Sunday’s YOU magazine.
Elvin is leaving to “pursue fresh challenges” and “will be remaining on hand to consult the charity on special projects when needed”, said the charity.
Elvin joined with a remit to “oversee a rebrand of the charity, raise its profile and attract new supporters, including celebrities”, said the charity, which says that under her leadership it has attracted celebrity supporters including Claudia Winkleman, Laura Whitmore and Lorraine Kelly.
Her role will be filled on an interim basis by Amar Naher, who has been with the charity for more than a year.
Children with Cancer UK was set up more than 30 years ago as Children with Leukaemia to raise money for research and support children with cancer and their families.
It was founded by Eddie and Marion O’Gorman and their family in memory of their son Paul. The couple then lost a second child, Jean, to cancer. It has since raised more than £290m for cancer research.
