Festive gaming for good event aims to raise millions of pounds for good causes

Annual Christmas gaming for good event Jingle Jam is taking place this week, when gaming influencers and streamers aim to raise several million pounds for good causes.

Those taking part in the event, which runs until 14 December, include Twitch streamers including TommyInnit, Talia Mar, Tubbo, RTGame, and The Yogscast.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), War Child, Autistica, Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal, Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC), Cool Earth, Sarcoma UK and The Trevor Project are the good causes to benefit this year.

Last year’s event raised more than £2.7m for its charitable partners.

The event has been taking place since 2011 and also involves the games industry.

“I'm so thrilled to be participating in this year's Jingle Jam raising money for CALM, a charity that is very close to my heart,” said Talia Mar, about her chosen good cause.

The singer and content creator, who has 788,000 followers on Twitch, added: “We’ve set some big fundraising targets and, if I know my audience, they’ll be more than motivated to smash them!"

Lewis Brindley, who is co-founder of the Twitch channel The Yogscast, which has 952,000 followers and has been a long term supporter of the event, said: “"We’re so excited to stream for Jingle Jam for the 14th year in a row.

“It’s amazing to see it open to everyone, and this year’s line-up of brilliant creators is going to make it unforgettable!"

Charity supporters can register as a fundraiser for Jingle Jam here. Once registered they can gain access to a selection of games when they give £35 or more.

Last year almost £918m, was raised for good causes via the streaming platform Twitch.
