CIoF to replace annual convention with 'affordable' event programme from next year

The Chartered Institute of Fundraising (CIoF) is to stage its last ever annual fundraising convention this June.

From next year the event is to be replaced with two new one day events. This includes a Fundraising Summit, focused on leadership and the future of the profession, and another called Fundraising in Action, which is aimed at designed building and enhancing fundraisers skills.

“Fundraising is evolving,” said the fundraising body.

“As the world changes, we’ve been listening to our members, sponsors, delegates and the wider sector, and it’s clear that the current climate is challenging.

“For some, a single large flagship event no longer fits their way of working and learning.”

It added: “Fundraisers need an offer designed around how they work, and a programme that is both affordable and practical.

The CIoF says the new events will “sit alongside a year-round programme of activity delivered by our groups across the UK”, including webinars, networking, events and development opportunities.

All events will be “priced to reflect the realities of the sector”, it added.

This year’s convention takes place on 4-5 June and features 80 sessions and more than 150 speakers, including from behavioural expert Jez Rose.
