Big Give extends deadline for Christmas match funding campaign

The deadline for charities to apply for its annual Christmas Challenge match funding campaign has been extended by two weeks.

The original deadline of the start of this month has been put back until 5pm, 15 July.

This year’s campaign runs for a week from #GivingTuesday on 29 November and offers up to £25,000 of match funding to charities that take part.

Match funding is being handed out by among others The Reed Foundation, The Childhood Trust, The Together Fund and the Waterloo Foundation.

Last year’s campaign raised a record £24.1m for charities, up by a fifth on the previous year. More than 79,000 donations were made, an increase of almost 8,000 on 2020’s figures.

Organisers say the annual match funding campaign is especially important due to the cost-of-living crisis, which is impacting on people’s ability to donate coupled with an increase in demand for services.

Earlier this year The Big Give announced details of its inaugural Green Match Fund. This £3m match funding initiative involved charities including Friends of the Earth, Surfers Against Sewage and Young People’s Trust for the Environment.
