Animal charity announces new CEO

Scottish SPCA has appointed Mark Bishop as its next chief executive.

He currently holds the same role at Edinburgh science centre and planetarium Dynamic Earth and has previously held senior posts at National Trust for Scotland and Prostate Cancer UK.

“Mark was a standout choice for CEO,” said the charity’s chair Fiona MacLeod.

“He is a passionate supporter of animal welfare with a strong interest in science and the environment. He joins the Scottish SPCA at a time of rising need and opportunity. He brings proven people leadership and deep expertise in marketing, fundraising and business delivery.”

Bishop, who joins in august and replaces interim CEO Anna Hart, said: “I’m delighted to be joining a charity that’s so well known and loved across Scotland. As an animal lover, I care deeply about the wellbeing of all animals.”

He added: “The charity is evolving its approach to focus not only on rescue but on prevention, working with people and partners to create lasting change and that’s an inspiring journey to be a part of.”

The Charity has centres in Aberdeenshire, Dunbartonshire, Edinburgh and Lothians, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Highlands and Islands and also runs its National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Clackmannanshire.
