A northern group of charity leaders met in Leeds this month to discuss their strategy under the leadership of The Adsetts Partnership (TAP), a new initiative launched during 2010 to prepare mid-sized third sector organisations for the emerging changes in commissioning practice across the public sector.
Charity leaders met with the chairman of TAP, Sir Norman Adsetts, and the event was chaired by TAP’s group chief executive, Philip Bartey who commented: “The structural deficit is being tackled by the coalition government and undoubtedly this will lead to cuts in provision across the UK with an impact on resources available to the Third Sector.
"However, the demand in support for vulnerable people is increasing unceasingly and we have to find new dynamic ways of supporting them to add value to diminishing resources from the public sector.
“The Third Sector needs to respond urgently to ensure that vital support for vulnerable groups can be maintained, with an increase in the quality of provision by working in collaboration to share resources and provide holistic responses to meet the growing demand.
"TAP is harnessing the combined strengths of a key number of strong players across the northern region to provide greater financial clout, increased geographical coverage and a diversity of response that few charities are able to provide by working in isolation.”
TAP is aiming to develop stronger links with both the public and private sectors to achieve a greater focus of collaboration and targeting of resources.
Working groups are being established to develop the exciting emerging strategy.
