Living Streets announces Joe Irvin as its new CEO

National charity Living Streets has announced Joe Irvin as its new chief executive.

Irvin, currently chief executive of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA), will take over on 1 September from Phillipa Hunt, Living Streets’ interim chief executive since the departure of Tony Armstrong last month.

Living Streets’ chair of trustees, Archie Robertson, said: "The Trustees are delighted to have Joe on board.

"He brings a wealth of highly relevant expertise from the charity and public sectors.

"The Board is looking forward to working with him to further Living Streets’ agenda, continuing to improve the street environment, and ensuring the pedestrian’s voice is heard.’

Joe Irvin said: "I am looking forward immensely to becoming chief executive of Living Streets. Welcoming and safe places to walk are crucial not only to people’s safety and personal health, but also to a strong sense of community.

"Tony has laid a great foundation. I hope to extend the local reach of Living Streets, so people have a real say in making their streets safer and easier for walking."
