Rachel Youngman chairs the board at Hibiscus, a charity for black, minority ethnic, and foreign national women in the criminal and social justice systems, she is also Deputy CEO at the Institute of Physics where she leads action into securing UK funding for climate change physics research, and she spearheads the diversity and inclusion agenda. Prior to her current role, Rachel advised NGOs on the sustainability of organisations post-government funding, and consulted for a stream of UK charities. She has a track record of repositioning struggling charities into award-winning operations. Rachel is a member of the External Advisory Board of the UK Quantum Technology Hub for Sensors and Metrology, and in 2022 she travelled to Africa to work with senior government and science leaders in sub-Saharan Africa on improving physics access and education on the continent for the purpose of combating climate change.
